Story
hi, I’m Laura Smith, and my life has been one big, flavorful adventure.
I grew up on the lush island of Java, one of ten children in a bustling household where the heart of our home was the kitchen. My mother, my sisters, and I would gather around pots sizzling with fragrant spices, creating meals that brought our family together. That love for cooking—and the joy of sharing food—stayed with me as I traveled the world.
From the vibrant street markets of Thailand to the spice-rich kitchens of Dubai, the seafood feasts of the Philippines, and the bold flavors of Jamaica, I immersed myself in the culinary traditions of each place I called home. Along the way, I trained with master chefs, collecting their trade secrets like treasured recipes. But no matter where I went, one thing remained constant—food was always about connection.
Seventeen years ago, I put down roots in South Carolina, and while I love cooking the comforting classics of my new home (yes, I make a mean fried chicken and mashed potatoes!), my true passion is bringing the bold, authentic flavors of Southeast Asia to the table. Over the past 20 years, I’ve continued expanding my culinary expertise, mastering dishes from Korea, Vietnam, and Japan.
Then, in 2002, I took the leap and opened my first Indo-Thai restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. The response was incredible. By 2009, I had opened another location in Myrtle Beach, followed by a third in Pawley’s Island in 2010. My mission has always been simple: to bring people together under one roof to experience the rich, complex flavors of my heritage.
Every sauce, every dish, every spice blend is crafted from scratch using only the freshest ingredients—some passed down through generations, others taught to me by my mentors. When you step into my restaurant, you’re not just having a meal; you’re taking a journey through the flavors of my childhood, my travels, and my passion for sharing food that tells a story.
So come, gather around the table, and let’s make memories—one delicious bite at a time.
